For Lars, not everything that happens is political. There are already preliminary reports that it lost power, which seems to be supported by seeing the ship go dark before it hit the bridge support.

When a large ship like this loses power, within seconds, the last recourse is manual rudder control from the engine room using an emergency generator.
No one on the bridge including the pilot has any control.
A 1000 ft boat will not turn on a dime.
