Gunbroker--any feedback?

Have any of the resident firearm aficionados used Gunbroker.com?

I went into my local brick and mortar gun shop today to look at Xdm45's. They want $699, firm. I asked the guy if he could do better and he said nope, their prices are solid. I looked the gun over, handed it back to him and said thanks. I've seen the same pistol on Gunbroker for $530-$560, and there's no sales tax on top of that. I know there would be a transfer fee with a local FFL dealer, but the cost would still be way less. Anyone have any experience? Or should I bite the bullet and buy local?

I did apply for my permit to purchase firearms today, so hopefully I will have that in a week and can exercise my rights

Used 'em 3-4X.

No issues, good sellers. You have to ship to an FFL in you area, $25-50, I see you knew that.

That hate paypal as much as I do, so that's plus IMHO.

Bought a couple of pieces on GunBroker.com Nice and easy.

Just like eBay or any online bidding/sales site, buy the seller, not the product first.

If I knew doctors carried around that much cash to have to get a sidearm, I'd started rollin' 'em years ago.

Ive used them twice, had issues both times. Both sellers had really high positve transactions, but each peice I bought took FOREVER to get. One took nearly 2 months, and the other almost 3...after money had been sent.
Both time, after money had been sent and confirmed recieved, I sent FFL info, and confirmed it had been recieved, what's next but to ship the gun out?? I finally did get both in condition they were described, but it just took a while!!

The other thing that bugs me about GB is the way an auction ends, with the 15 minute extension. The first gun I bought, a Weatherby 7mm MOA, I had the final bid with seconds to go (I had bid hours before the end of the auction), and then someone bid with seconds left. The auction ended up going an extra 4 hours, and the auction was raised by 250 bucks. I still got a brand new gun for well under the msrp, but it was bs how it all went down imho!!!

The 15 min thing is good for a seller, bad for a buyer.
But it works just like a real auction would. If there are active bidders, bidding will continue until the hammer drops.

Like any auction site, place your max bid (whenever), and forget about it. The moment you deviate from that plan is when you'll regret it. Don't watch the end of the auction either, that's when the stupid money gets spent.

I don't carry cash, I carry extracted bicuspids
