You are more than welcome to voice your opinion. I think you'll find that most people are here and not there due to the condescending attitudes <or other issues> of the administration at the other place. Not to mention many of the people I like to visit with spend more time here than there.

Considering most of the people who were most active at CI now post here instead of there...how did you come to said conclusion?

Totally not true. Of course Erb can voice his opinion.

I just doubt that many of the hundreds of other folks no longer going to CF Cruise In are not doing so because they've bought a lake house and would rather be there.

I very strongly suspect that it's because they are sick of the administration there and have moved on, or at least have no desire to socialize with that group.

Last year, I didn't go because of my teaching schedule, we were in the middle of planning to move, and my daughter was about to graduate high school. AND some of my favorite people who were always at CI live right here in Texas, so we planned our own party.

This year, the only reason I'd have to go there would be to tell Jim Willis to his face that he's a coward, fake and liar for pretending to be a friend for years, but letting Jesse Geiger railroad me out of town..er..off Corvette Forum, without even so much as a word or email.

As those of you who've been on here since the start know, I considered Jim a friend, respected him and stuck up for him over and over. Not anymore.

And Jesse virtually does not even participate in the forum, except to beg for St Jude's and post "prayers" when someone dies or gets sick, and obviously to issue directives and ban people who post pictures of someone he doesn't like.

With no respect for either of those admins, and the numerous condescending emails I received from Jesse Geiger in the past year, you can rest assured that I am not going near there this year due to the management of the forum. At least that's the bottom line. My friends won't be there either, with one exception I can think of (lol) but again, they will not be there mainly because of the management of the forum.

Oh, and....

I know the intent of the author of this article was not what the title reads, but I totally agree with the title as it stands:

Cancer survivor uses Corvettes to help St. Jude

I've done my last St Judes donation through CF and my last CI. Just because of the way the forum is run.

No kidding. That was always something I looked forward to every year, and those assholes took that away.

Me, too. I was only 1.5 hours away and considered it my annual (dysfunctional) family reunion. I'm glad we're still united via the web here, though.

The funny part about CI, is most of the people you look forward to seeing and hanging with are not a part of CF anymore, and that's why I won't be going to another CI.

Gotta agree with Erb tho, (which I did not know was you, what's up Mike), we just bought a boat, and I will be spending that weekend on the water. Life and priorities have just changed.
I would tho, make a cameo for a couple of days if CI was the same event it was a few years ago!! The friends I have made are well worth a few days of my time, especially when you only see these folks once a year!! Oh well, hopefully, I can make it to a barn raising one day, and start a new era!!!

Same here. Last donation I did was a T-shirt signed by my crew and Battalion Command Group in Afghanistan that got auctioned off as a thanks for the care packages. I still give to St. Judes directly, but not as much as I used to since I've become so heavily involved with the Shriners.

On that note, I refuse to give $$$ to the Combined Federal Campaign the Army hits us all up for every year. Why give somebody else the credit when all they do is guilt trip the entire unit into donating to reach their "goal" (or bragging rights the way I see it)?

Some things just die on their own... I remember when I got my first Corvette and started going out for weekend drives, we would get a really big group to make a run as the "Music City Vettes". Did it a lot. Drives to LBL, drives to the Jack Daniels Distillery, drives to Christmas Parades... a meal at the Gerst Haus on what turned out to be a snowy, nasty night (remember that one, Liz?)

Me, Adam Boca, Kelly, before she and Adam married; JR_VETTE; CrazyMagMan; EbonyFantasy; Rob Martin, Tv7son, RangerZR1, Ted (can't remember his forum name);even Bounty Hunter.

...but it's been a couple of years (at least; maybe longer) since we got the old group together and did anything centered on being Corvette owners, as far as I know. Family, children, work pressures, other hobbies.

The general lassitude of long-time members may be more apathy-related, or "I just have other interests now"-related.

Thoughts? Have you noticed a slump in participation in your local events?

I always wanted to make it to a CI, but time never permitted. And now that I might possibly have time, friendships won't permit it because pretty much all my friends are here. Fortunately a drive north to see you mofos at an even I don't want to miss is only about 2 1/2 hours for me if I can make it at all.

I know this may sound bad, but St. Jude's doesn't need your money. If you're going to give money, I would encourage everyone to find a local non profit and give to them. It will go much further than than giving to St. Jude's.

Julian, if you are looking for something to do that weekend, come down to Beech Bend for the NHRA Lucas Oil Series race and come visit. It would be good to see some of my corvette friends in bowling green.
