I concur with you. I've been disappointed the few times I've eaten at one.

But still, they've done pretty well for a long time, even if they've had some troubles of late (like many restaurants). The CEO (chick in charge) should STFU, IMO. It's not her job to diss the company she is being paid to shill for. I'm fairly sure she's supposed to spin things in a good way.

They bulldozed our local Golden Corral, closed Macaroni Grill and Red Lobster is on life support. Not sure how some of these big chains step on their own ....

In my area, if you don't give somebody hepatitis, serve decent food with polite wait staff its hard not to make money.

The big chain “casual dining” business model doesn’t work anymore. The food quality and service has gone to hell and now isn’t much better than McDonald’s for 3x the cost.

The whole theme of their restaurants is classic Americana. Classic Americana is traditional, family values......not alphabet rocking chairs. People go to those restaurants to eat comfort food, and look at antiques, artifacts from a time in America those people liked. That's the customer base for Cracker Barrel, in the same way "bratty, fratty, blue collar is (well, was) the customer base for Bud Light.

Cracker Barrel was always a family favorite while traveling. But the last time I ate there, maybe 5 years ago, it was a new store style where the entire dining room was wide open. No partitions separating different sections. It was very off-putting sitting in a sea of people with tables crammed together. You had to literally squeeze between other customers to enter and exit your table.

Where I am, with $20 per hour Mc Donald's employees, it's actually cheaper to go to non-chain family run restaurants that are full service and a nice dining experience. I haven't had a fast food burger in maybe 4 years.

Why spend $20 on a McDonalds crap microwave meal when you can get a fresh Gyro or steak salad or Ruben for $17?

When on the road I'd much rather eat at Cracker Barrell than any "fast food" place like McDonalds etc. I'll take mediocre food over shit any day of the week.

Same here.... But even our Mom & Pop Italian restaurant has gotten expensive.... The spaghetti dinner with salad, rolls and a drink that we used to get 3 years ago for about $24 was $42 last visit. For spaghetti; Bidenomics at its finest.

We will go to Cracker Barrel on very rare occasions for breakfast sometimes, maybe once in 3 months.
