That actually happened to me. One Sunday morning I was having a cup of coffee in my office and kept a bell ring. Eventually I realized it sounded pretty close so I looked out the window, and there was a cow meandering around my back yard.
I went out and saw my neighbor coming over with a rope, but we ended up just cornering her until animal control got there. Our houses were built on a former dairy farm, so we figured she was probably just stopping by to check out the old homestead.
