Default 57 Chevy - is this a hardtop (no post) car?

From these pictures when the rear window is rolled down I don't see any place for the chrome between the rear window glass and the front window glass to go. Unless it rotates as it goes down.

It rotates forward as it goes down. A LOT of cars from the '50's and '60's did that. On my '61 Corvette, the glass rolls back a bit. Just the design and how to make it fit and work well within the spaces given.

It's a hardtop, just like my '65 GTO. The glass seals with a rubber weatherstrip mounted on the leading edge of the rear quarter windows. GM used that design starting 1949-50.Click image for larger version

The car in the photos appears very, very nice. Be sure to check for rust in all the suspect areas. If for sale, and you can get it up on a lift to check underneath, even better. These cars command a premium these days and it's easy to lose your ass if you miss something.

So what does the rear window look like as it's cranked down? How specifically does it move?

As in, if I was standing where that picture was taken, what would I see? Does the rear window pivot around a point down on the body panel at the front of the window?

Can't remember. Some pivot to the rear and go down and back. Others dip down in the front first and go down. Tried to find pics on line of the quarter window 'half down' without luck. It's been some years since I've been in one.

That's a good looking car. I think the 57 Chevy is one of the best looking cars built.

Not a 'post' car. I like post cars though. The '55 in TLB and AG are post cars.

It also has skirts and gold emblems. I think the gold signified V8?

I believe the gold was for Belair. The V on the hood and the trunk stood for V8 cars

Paintwork around the VIN tag looks very sloppy...

I know, right?

Plus, the roof looks wavy.
