Over the years I've usually heard good things about his products, maybe not the cheapest but well made and functional.

My MIL bought one of those Showtime Rotisseries for each of her kids years ago. My wife and I still use it a couple of times a year. Does a good job.

Pocket Fisherman. Probably the most "burned into my mind" commercial ever.

Buy it now and get an easy rider rifle rack for free; holds not one, not two, but three of your favorite rifles.

Interesting you say that because the Forman grill kicked ass. It's funny that we now use a Cuisinart when the George worked so well back in the day.

The Pocket Fisherman was pure genius. I've had several over my lifetime.
Not that they didn't last but I lost a couple and gave a few away as gifts.
Ron exemplified the American inventiveness and marketing hutzpah!
He made the most of the opportunity America offered.

from Wikipee:

Quote:
After returning from college, Popeil continued to work and learn from his father, who was also an inventor and salesman of numerous kitchen-related gadgets such as the Chop-O-Matic and the Veg-O-Matic to major department stores. The Chop-O-Matic retailed for US$3.98 and sold over two million units. It indirectly spurred Ron Popeil's move into television, as it was so efficient at chopping vegetables it was impractical for salesmen to carry all they needed for their pitches. The solution was to tape the demonstration.

Popeil initially operated as a distributor of his father's kitchen products and later formed his own company, Ronco, in 1964.

While going through our deceased Mother’s things a years ago I had to stop and marvel at the “Buttoneer” that I gave her as a Mother’s Day gift in the early 70’s with my grade school newspaper route money. She loved and actually used it for a couple of years.

The guy instilled a positive energy around his novelty products which we could use more of.

What was the biggest catch you ever "reeled in" using one of these?

Just small lake trout when camping. The innards were basic Zebco reels.

The whole concept was one of just having a line handy when the opportunity presented itself.
Small enough to just toss in the trunk. For fun. And it was!

OBVIOUSLY not intended for saltwater sport fishing or fishing derbies!!
