The floor jack style are not stable enough IMO for a super nice car and amateurs.
The other style may be available to rent however i doubt it.
I add padding all over(thick pipe insulation) to avoid any metal to paint contacts.

The doors shouldn't weight too much with everything removed? As mentioned, see if you can stick some tape to it...but, be careful with it...paint is VERY thin on the edges and super tacky tape might lift the paint

I agree that if the window, window actuator hardware, door lock mechanism, etc. are all removed, the doors are probably a lot lighter than the ones I mounted the few times I have done it. However, I would be loathe to put tape directly onto a finish painted body panel unless absolutely necessary. I would wrap the main part of the doors in towels or bubble wrap, and tape the wrapping. For the back edge of the front fender, I would see if I could get some pipe insulating foam small enough to protect the edge, and not get in the way of inserting the door hinges with the door in a partially open position.

This is all from my mind's eye, which is not the best. I'll give a good look at the mounting tomorrow when I look for those splash guards, and might reverse myself completely after that.

Yep, probably lighter, but still cumbersome due to size. I agree with doing something the edge of the front fender and door edge. It's just hard to hold them perfectly steady.

I was able to do my C2 doors with all hardware alone. But, probably wasn't a good idea and a big risk to the paint.

You should also look for the 'shims' for the doors. Probably not expensive to replace, but he might have made notes on how many and location.

Original gas tank? There is a very important 'tank sticker' glued to the top of it. All the details about your cars factory options, etc...

If it has any old gas in it. You really need to get it all out before rust destroys the tank.

There should be a few additional chrome pieces for the ignition shielding. The pieces that go over the plugs.

I have the original gas tank sticker in a bag, brand new gas tank was installed, I think the shims are on the car side of the door hinges and already painted. See picture below.. (if that is what you are referencing)

NO idea if gas is in the tank All taped off for paint still.

Thank you for input.

Our awesome neighbors brought over a ton of tables. This should help with laying out the small bits.

Will need to clean out the garage better. It’s a mess right now. Been to darn hot to spend much time clearing out the kiddy stuff.

Organization is the key. What's the first thing that you'll start on? I know it seems overwhelming but take this on as many small projects that will complete the large project. That way you'll feel rewarded in finishing each task and before you know it you'll be done!

Didn’t ‘68 BB just have braided wires? c2’s SB had full cover but I’m not sure of ‘68. One I’m familiar with have Dist cover and braided shields on SP wires…

I thought so too with chrome shield over the distributor. My SB '70 has the shielding all the way down to the plugs.

Workout got delayed until today. Couldn't see shit from underneath with the car on the ground, the car is too low and I am too fat to get my head and my phone and a light under there. Couldn't see shit from the top. I don't think I'm going to be able to find anything without going under the car, and I don't do that any more when I am here alone. Sorry.

I am home all weekend not this weekend, but the following, I'll see if I can ply a neighbor with some beer to help me lift the front of the car then.

This is what I was thinking for protecting the rear edge of the fenders when you put the doors on. It is just a piece I found laying around in the garage, I would try to find a smaller diameter. I would put the sticky side on the inside.

I also still have the old weather stripping. Would that work?
