generally speaking, the more "religious" garb someone wears, the less he knows God, and the more he wants you to think that he's righteous.

the tax collector in Luke would not raise his head, and beat on his chest, asking for forgiveness, and he went home forgiven.

the pharisee who prayed about himself did not go home forgiven, because he thought he already was righteous.

This has been my life experience. The louder the praises, the less genuine the character.
When I was in law enforcement, we got a preacher who owned a repair shop that ran stolen cars, drugs, hookers, and used juveniles to steal and run the drugs. His place was called 'Heavenly......'. Guy was total evil, and if there is a hell he will burn there.

By the way, that reminds me of a preacher I used to see a lot on TV. I can't think of his name right now, but it will come to me...

The point I was attempting is that others should remain silent when one choses a path in life to serve GOD, with little materialism in their life.
It is their decision, other opinions are not needed.

AND for today, if someone makes the decision to commit to works of faith with very little monetary rewards, it is their decision, others can remain silent.

A life without materials, spouse and family was never a consideration for me, I feel you can do many good things for many others without abstaining from all three, but if it works for you, it is none of my business.

Again, the point is many state that a total commitment is not necessary, is archaic, but I chose not to engage, and accept one's decisions, while not blaming a religion for being more requiring than others.

Wow....small world. Yes, our preacher was also black....go figure. But smart. When he didn't have kids under 18 stealing cars, he had adults with fake ID's rent cars, and then turn them over to the 13-14 year olds for drug running. That way no worries about adult convictions or seized property.

Another guy, coincidentally black, stared daggers at us while handcuffed in the back of a squad car as we seized his entire shop and equipment as evidence.

I have to say, it was pretty sweet.
