I liked his music. I wouldn't listen to it exclusively, but it was always good stuff.

A few interesting facts about "Take Me Home Country Roads"...Denver had never been to West Virginia, nor had the people who wrote the song. They were inspired by postcards received from friends that lived there.

The group that sang background vocals on that song were called "Fat City." They went on to chart a hit of their own a few years later as "Starland Vocal Band." The song was called "Afternoon Delight."

And there it is. The WORST song in the history of music. You should ban yourself for reminding me of it.

Shut the hell up. Or I'll paint "Mickey Thomas was the greatest singer EVER" across the front of your house.

Say what you want but back when Afternoon Delight was released it was considered obscene by some radio stations. Hence, the racy euphemism gained such popularity in 1976 that it became the number one album for the year.

I never really cared for him.
But the way he killed himself, (And he did, albeit unintentionally) was pretty jacked up.
Talk about Pilot error.

I will admit to being a bit of a "Metal or it sucked" kinda guy in '76. Zeppelin, Sabbath, etc. I was in high school. Fags listened to disco and pop.

Another one, take a look at his lead guitarist in this video, his name is James Burton and was also the lead guitarist for Elvis.

Didn't care for John Denver back in the 70's. Now I can listen to his music.

My musical tastes are fairly diverse... I love classic rock like Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Journey, Heart, etc... and I like heavier rock like Evanescence, Alice In Chains, there is very little country music that I like though. That being said, John Denver - Take Me Home Country Road is a great tune ! Very Catchy !

That was the song of choice on the way back after a long day of building trail near the new National Jamboree site.
