Default Nashville/Memphis places to stay

So it looks like we will be heading to Nashville and Memphis around Memorial Day and need recommendations on places to stay, primarily in Nashville. At this point for Memphis we will be spending a night at the Peabody and a night at the Bass Pro Shops. Talk me out of either if you have insight.

We've never stayed in Nashville though, always drove down from BG for the day, but this time we are spending a couple of days there. I'd like to find a nice place with good parking and ideally walking distance to Broadway, what do you all suggest?

Do you have a limit on what you would "like" to spend?

I'd like to spend as little as possible lol, but for reference the Peabody is running 350ish per night

For downtown Nashville, many of the rooms are in the same price range and some hotels start at $750 a night. It is insane how much the supply/demand has blown things out of proportion here in our once small town.

Best deals....

Lowe's Vanderbilt (quick uber ride downtown for $5 or you can walk, I do every day)
Hutton Hotel (free shuttle service in their Teslas)
Sheraton is nice (overlooks state capital)
Hermitage Hotel (our historic hotel and #1 ranked in TN)
SpringHill Suites (pretty new and looks nice, but never been in there)

Once you get close to Broadway and the convention center....prices change rapidly

I have stayed at the Renaissance Nashville Hotel a few times for work. Not a bad place at all and the google machine tells me it's pretty close to Broadway.

The Renaissance is very close, it is over off Commerce which is ~2 blocks off Broadway.

Anything is walk-able - depending on how far you are willing to walk. Myself, I walk from my office in the afternoons to the riverfront train station which is right about 2.4 miles.

I love the city and by walking I get to the station about 30 minutes before the bus does and 40 minutes before the train leaves. So, if I have the urge, I can usually stop and have a cold beverage on occasion before catching the train home. However, we usually just sit and watch the drunk tourists guess at the name of the river that is downtown (It's not the Mississippi btw ) and trying to find a place to sit and rub their feet after the first day of wearing brand new cowboy boots and not justifying the extra $10 for a great pair of socks to wear with those boots

Always a good time though.

Add Nashville hot chicken to your list of things to try. I would suggest going to 400 Degrees and not Hattie Bs if you want to get served quickly.

It's on the list. BTW, booked the Renaissance based on the recommendations here and from the wife's friend

Bass Pro may be difficult (and expensive), I hear it stays booked. The Peabody is nice, very Memphis, but there are much cheaper places to stay around the city if that's the goal.

Of course, the Peabody is off of Beale St., so there's that.

We booked the Peabody for the first night so we are close to Beale st. Bass Pro was available for the second night so we hang out there and then head to Nashville for another two nights. Bass pro was cheap compared to the Peabody . Some of the reviews on bass pro are not the best so we'll see. We stayed at the Peabody in Orlando a few years ago before it was sold and it was excellent so I'm expecting the same in Memphis
