To recognize the day, I am going to rub my hands with bacon grease several times a day.

I'll fill my spare time by sketching pictures of allah.

A blast from the past:

My dad (1913-2000) was a young man during the Great Depression and learned how to get by with little money. That stuck with him throughout his life.

My mom would save bacon fat -- or whatever else kind of fat from cooking -- in a container by the stove.

I was just a young boy then, and Dad and I would be working on the lawnmower or something else that was greasy. We'd come in the kitchen and slop our hands up with the bacon grease and it would cut right through the other grease.

But then we'd have to wash our hands good with soap and water to get the bacon grease off, lol.

Remember this trick when the Communists completely take over everything and there's no money for luxuries like D&L Hand Cleaner.

Ramadan, is that the day those cult members run around that big rock and some get crushed to death?

I still do something similar. I have a bottle of baby oil and I pour some on my greasy hands and mix it all in to one slimy mess that washes off with soap and water.

Not to hijack, but my folks also lived through the depression as kids and learned a thriftiness and resourcefulness that they passed on to me and I'm grateful for it. Same as I'm grateful for the several WW2 combat veterans that were my teachers in public school. They taught character, honor, commitment, and accountability. None of this is taught these days....only victimhood and entitlement. I have saved and used bacon grease for decades as a rust-proofer and a lubricant for my black powder shooting. Sometimes the old stuff is the best stuff.

Know a dood, wifey's bro, merchant marine 30+ yrs, bigshot, second on ship, did many tours in asia in early working days, visited bahrain often, stated it was playground for the rich guys in the region, they behaved badly there, as could not do so in their home countries.
Said there was no lull during Ramadan, Mecca was too crowded and too hot, and no good hotels, they went to bahrain instead, as booze and hookers aplenty.

^ I have been to Bahrain a few times. Once they come over that bridge from Saudi, its a game changer. They change clothes, they drink, do drugs, hookers. And there are bagels and bacon readily available on the island of bahrain..
And here I am at their only real attraction, the Tree of Life.

My life-long buddy's grandfather, who was a crop farmer, had a trick that I still use today, sixty-some years later.

He had several tractors etc. and had an old oil drum that the "slop oil" from oil changes went into. He would spray the undersides of his vehicles with the slop oil to help protect them from the winter slush/salt.

So then my buddy got into farming in the early '70s. He built several hay wagons for kick balers with high racks on them, built of oak planks. He slopped the planks up with old oil periodically and they lasted a long time, and most of them were outdoors year-round.

I had a pole barn built in 1982 with T-111 siding which I oiled up, and also the pine trim (not pressure treated).

Slop it up, let it soak in as much as it will. I only ever put one coat on it that year and the siding is still in good shape, except for the south-facing side, which I had replaced in 2018. It wasn't shot, but had some bad spots so I had all of it and the windows replaced.

It works every bit as good as that expensive "stain," and gives new wood a nice dark brown color. I slop up my coal bin every few years and even the oak handle on my ancient construction wheelbarrow. Anything, actually, that is wood and is outdoors.

First pik: Built and oiled in 1982. Yes it needs a new coat of oil, but I'm too lazy to do it.

Second pik: New siding and oiled in 2018.

Third pik: Coal bin.

Coal bin for the win. Here in CA, liberals would have strokes seeing that.

They're having strokes because they're injected with the Wu flu shots.
