For those that may be confused over Chuck A's comments, he has a burr up his ass about me, but that's OK, that's his problem.

The term "ChiefBoats" is the name I use on another forum, I did not serve in the Navy, but in the US Coast Guard, retiring as a Chief Boatswains Mate, before, I did stint in the USAF as a SSGT. Contrary to his all knowing wisdom, I did not paint boats, I drove boats, search & rescue for 21 years.

So Chuck, keep on throwing them pearls of wisdom at me, I think it's funny.

Norm, if this is none of my beeswax ignore the question.

You’re not handicapped, (I don’t believe) why the ramp? I thought you lived alone.

No problem. Not handicapped (yet). When I stepped out of my back door, there were three steps to the patio, one day I stepped out, was either daydreaming or something caught my eye in the yard, I turned and missed the first step, caught myself on the second step before I would have fallen on the concrete. Most likely that would have did me in, so henceforth the ramp.

The honey and I are in our 70's now, so there may come a time that we may need a ramp, now it's already there. We really like it.

That’s what killed my father. He was talking with my mom about nothing at their lake home, missed a step, fell and hit his head. Two days later he was gone.

Seems uncharacteristic of Chuck who typically is a reasonable and agreeable guy.

My FIL refuses to put ramps in... Mil fell few years ago and broke everything in ankle coming down stairs. Ended up in rehab and her mental status went downhill badly and she hasn't recovered mentally.
She has horrible depth perception and falls constantly but he won't budge. Walkers suck on stairs MIL has found out.
He also won't take scooter for her anywhere as it's inconvenient and takes too much time.
A fall will end up killing her.
This current house we live in I planned for zero to limited stairs. Putting a small addition on that will have an entrance with zero stairs, just an inlcined walkway instead.
Anyway.. It's Good to know your issues or potential issues and act accordingly.

My parents (and now my two older sisters) lived in a retirement community of double wides and they all have those setups. Code for stuck built homes requires a landing outside the door. Why they allow a variance for manufactured homes makes no sense.

In 2016 I paid an attorney to explain how to remove them all, as they were arrogant, condescending and not very forthright
Cost me some dollars, and I went out and got a 75% quorum, not easy as needed 75% of homes, not 75% of voters
Removed them, sat on board for less than 2 years, as was frustrated
The other four members were mostly incompetent with ZERO business background
I had to explain in detail a Capital Projects Budget & Schedule multiple times
Three of the five were in lockstep, I decided my vote did not matter and left, even though I, yes I, got all of them on the board with money and hard work

My take is that most, if not all, associations, are full of those who have never had power in life, and now this is their saving grace, even though they, too, know they have no skills, and no experience to make decisions for the community.
Mostly ego, nothing else, and they take more than they give, and never admit their mistakes.
It sounds like it would be a terrible job. I'm sure 99% of them don't have any actual skills or business knowledge.

Got a link to the codes for stuck built homes? I've never heard of such a thing, but I'm open to learning.
