I don't think he is the best choice for Elvis by appearance, but maybe he acts and/or sounds like him.

Never understood the whole Elvis thing. I do remember we were on our summer vacation trip in August '77 going through the Ozarks and people were going crazy at the news.

Back in 74 I took my girlfriend to see Elvis for her birthday. I didn't really care for Elvis, but she wanted to see him. Now I am glad I did go. He put on a good show.

With reluctance, I gave the movie a shot. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised at the performance. There are some issues with the movie in that they occasionally threw some new music (Hip-hop/rap/something) in during the flow of the movie. It sucked. Also, they gave Col Parker a Dutch accent. Parker was a manipulative user. Over all, it was worth the 160 minutes and $3.99.

In the book, Killing the Legends, Bill O'Reilly and Martin Dugard explore the lives, legacies, and tragic deaths of three of the most famous people of the 20th century Elvis Presley, John Lennon, and Muhammad Ali.
Read the above. I didn't have any love for the three mentioned people. Got it at the local library. It was a good read. Elvis and Clay the boxer where used by their management. The Col took 50% of Elvis earnings and Clay the boxer was ripped off by a Nation of Islam manager. Read the whole Killing of series ( multiple books) by Bill O'Reilly and Martin Dugard and they were good light reads. Again got them all at the local library. |

I didn't really appreciate him until later in life, his music mostly - his daft movies where just silly venues to showcase his popular songs. The race car movie wasn't bad and I think he had his moments in "Flaming Star" and "Kid Gallahad".
This bio movie is miscast as are the trailers for the upcoming John Denver movie - that guy doesn't look like Denver, nor have the mannerisms. |

We watched it a few weeks ago. I think it was almost three hours long; we watched it over two nights. It was fair at best. Seemed like it was more a movie about Colonel Parker than Elvis.
