Jon Stewart set to join 9/11 Memorial Board
Jon Stewart is set to receive quite an honor in return for his efforts to get the 9/11 First Responders Bill passed.
Just In Jon Stewart 9/11 Memorial | 9/11 Memorial | Mediaite No, I’m not talking about another Edward R. Murrow comparison. He has been chosen to join the board of the foundation that is building New York’s 9/11 memorial. From the Washington Post: “Joe Daniels, the foundation’s president, says Stewart is an important public figure and a regular New Yorker who saw the world change on Sept. 11, 2001. The memorial – twin reflecting pools set above the fallen towers’ footprints – is set to open to the public by this Sept. 11.” Stewart was a huge supporter of the bill last month. He famously spent most of an entire episode on a serious conversation with a group of first responders about the bill and their health plans. When it was passed, he brought on Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, champion of the bill, who thanked him for his support. He will be appointed to the board this Thursday. As nice as it is to be compared to famous people of the past, my guess is that Stewart will appreciate this more. |
