Got some flow numbers for the Stage 3 L92/LS3 heads from Richard at West Coast Cylinder Heads (proheads.com)
Damn Richard, These look like LS7 numbers... Here is the difference in the WCCH Stage 2 heads I was running with the 403 and the Stage 3 heads for the 427. Impressive flow numbers and this will really be a breather that screams for FI, I am following there thread now on the other forum in the FI section as they are building a stroker for 1500 hp

Looks like you'll have more power in the mid range.

I like your flow charts and more is never enough, I have my mechanic looking at the thread over on the other forum as we were looking at another vendor and he likes the initial look at the setup VA is doing on the 1500 hp build up, I told him about yours and it is looking like the same style setup with more compression for some Sick NA power

McLeod, Sneaks and I are going down to VA Speed on Saturday to check things out and visit. We'll be there around noon if anyone wants to stop by and say "hey".

Damnit! I need to check threads more often. I can't make it anyway, my parents are visiting this weekend.

Hey Shawn,
Man you really surprised me when we got there today to find you sitting at the engine dyno controls and my 427 loaded up on the dyno. I didn't expect that. Anyways, the numbers...These are preliminary numbers. Ed didn't get a chance to finalize the tune and the engine was still running the w40 breakin oil. The motor has been run a total of about 5 minutes so far including the dyno pulls and never run over 6k RPM. Early results are 605 HP at 5900RPM and 588 T at 4800. I think we're all pretty happy with the early numbers. Shawn said he usually sees 75 HP difference between the chasis and engine dyno. Shawn has another cam ...still small by anyone's standards for a 427. Let's see how that works. Shawn also wants to take a run at making power with the FAST 102. He's confident he can make it work. The goal remains the same - good power but not at the expense of drivability. That's the challenge. The engine is very quiet mechanically. Much quieter than before. It was a GREAT day. McLeod and Sneaks made the 390 mile round trip with me and Brian - Cobra4B - stopped by for the show. Here are a few pics. Shawn and Ed at work. The BEAST! Tough to get pics of the gauges when max'd. Note the RPM. Last edited by WKMCD; 02-21-2010 at 9:57am. |
