[Woodworking] Reloading Bench
just made this today for a shooting buddy of mine.
36" tall, 30" wide, 25" deep. top is 3/4 plywood with laminate (fancy!), supported by a 4x4 in front, 2x4s on the sides and back. legs are 4x4, half lapped into the top supports. lower shelf is 12" above ground, simple piece of 3/4 plywood supported by 2x4s on edge. he intends to either stand or sit on a stool when using it, so the height is set for that. second pic is my reloading bench that is designed for sitting at. (well, no luck loading pics, try again in a bit.) |

Dillon press... your bud intends to crank out some serious round counts!
And both benches are quite nice. |

Both are nice benches. The smaller one may need some "ballast" on the bottom shelf or bolted to a wall depending on how much leverage is needed.

Well I’m out of the loop. My guys have already started building. I’ll try to get a pic later.

this took about 3 hours to build. wasn't rushing, just a nice steady pace, with time for me and my shooting buddy to talk, both about what i was doing and other matters. well, there's the design. easy to adjust the overall dimensions to suit. |

looks like a hollow core door for the top? they might need to add a 4x4 on the front edge to support the torque of the press later. can be quite significant, and it's really annoying when your press is wiggly. failing that, double stacked 2x4s would also work.

I know it’s not a door. I’ll pass along your suggestions. I know they will appreciate the input. A wiggly press does sound annoying.
Thank you! |
