I just shook my head when he said it.
It’s a V6, could be a cool swap.

Yes I consider myself a car guy and have always been. I grew up in the 90’s though so I didn’t get a hot start. First car was a 94 V6 Camaro. I loved that thing though. Pics below.

Yeah I'm a gear head.

Was big for my age, hung around at the gas station down the street at age 13. Basically was a gopher and helped out doing things. At 16 in 1962 I bought my first car, a 59 Chevy 283 power pack with the rare 4spd. Street racing was big in the Albany area, and I did my share.

Then a couple years later bough a Dodge with a 383, then when I hit 21 I bought brand new 67 Dodge RT 440 with auto trans. Put a lot of money into it and it was fast.(ran it both on the strip and street.). Worked part time at my buddies speed shop/garage so all parts were at cost and I had a good place to work on the car.

Even after I got married and got rid of the RT I continued to work at my buddies shop, under the table. It was a good second job as I needed the money as I was now a apprentice in my construction union.

Had 7 Vettes and now have my 15 Vert,(Avatar) so I guess I'm a car guy even at 75!

I used to be more of a "car guy". Did rings, bearings, valve jobs, rebuilt differentials, & transmissions (manual, never did an auto) & all the usual maintenance.

Too much for my aging aching body now though.

Took the ASVABS (MEPS) right out of high school, scored the highest in mechanics, Air Force put me in the motor pool, that pretty much started my path with cars.

When I got out, first car was a '65 Vette, the first of seven so far. I am too slow to make any money as a mechanic, so opted for other career fields.

Even though those fart cans are quicker than most of the 60’s/70’s cars. I know my Focus RS was a little beast.

ugh. why? On the bright side, he probably won't ever get around to collecting all of the parts and dismantling the Mustang.

Yes, but not because I’m on a car forum...that all came much later...

Dad was a big drag-racer/motocross-racer and overall gear-head...he had a ‘67 ‘vert (Marina Blue ext/white int) that he did a total frame-off resto on. We lived in a very car-centric/car enthusiast-friendly neighborhood, so he built a detached garage especially for that project I remember as a kid seeing this vette in various parts all scattered across the garage floor (for the first time saw what a transmission looked like out of the car)...and at one point helping by pressing the pedals while he worked on the linkages (that I could barely reach).

That car is long gone (still unhappy about that), but he bought an ‘87 yellow coupe after that one...which was the first vette I actually drove. Got my own after that and got a second one also...still have them both. Have done my own fair share of drag and circuit track racing as well. I’m not a master mechanic by any means but am car-literate/can troubleshoot some issues/perform some basic repairs...am grateful to have a super-knowledgeable friend with a lift in his garage also.

The daily is German and under warranty...and is gotten rid of as soon as it’s out I need at least one car that I do nothing to. Two continual project cars are plenty for me although I would like to experience some of the exotics someday.

That's an expensive swap and I agree it will never happen.

My first car @17 was a 67 VW bug. Learned fast how they worked and did several engine swaps and improvements. I then bought a 71 El Camino with a 350 to haul my go-kart to racing tracks. Kept it until 95 when I sold it. Did most of the work myself since it was easy to work on.

It had over 300k on the clock. Engine was still original. When I changed the oil, I would add 4 quarts of 30 weight and 1 quart of ATF. At almost 200k, it started to expel water vapor out the tail pipe - head gasket! Since I was trying to finish and get my degree in college, having a wife and kids, I did not have time to fix it myself so I had a mechanic do it. He called me to ask WTF I was doing to the motor. He said the heads were perfect, no carbon build up, valves were fine, and very clean inside.

As of today, I no longer work on cars.
