One time a friend asked me to pick them up at the airport. I was only 12 hours early because they told me 10 and not 2200. Just so there is never any confusion I always use military time myself.

I use military time because that's what I grew up with and it's very familiar. AM/PM....keep that shit. I only use it at work when dealing with non-veterans.

Seriously though, I bet we've all been through something similar. Previous job I reported directly to the district manager but he put someone between himself and me which started causing problems because I would correct him on how things were actually done. Long and short, I'm not there anymore and I helped start the division for the company.

I worked here when there were 6 of us in the whole place and we made $2M. I loved it. I got no hassle for missing 4 weeks with Covid last month, my truck was my bonus last year, pay keeps a roof over my head, and this ass clown is going to come in and fling shit all over the walls and stink it up.

If I get a request to call someone at 3:00, it's pretty safe to say they don't mean three in the morning.

I work anywhere between 6:00-9:00 which are the college operating hours. I got asked for a 6:00 meeting and was 12 hours early. Needless to say, I was pissed and missed the 1800hrs meeting too.

Most of my career was 8 to 5 so meetings or conference calls for 9:00 or 1:00 were unambiguous. However I often managed projects that included evening and night work. When scheduling work or calls outside of hours using AM or PM was more reliable as I couldn't count on those without a military background to do the math.

Short of actually being in the military I work with more military than most I imagine. Primarily Navy Nuke personnel.

Some are colossal douchers who haven't quite figured out work isn't boot camp and some who are great guys. I think a dickhead is a dickhead. Military doesn't have much to do with it.

And oh. We use military time.

Sorry to hear that Jeff, and I feel for you. My first job out of grad school, I was supposed to report directly to the Controller. At the end of the first week, I was informed that on Monday, they were inserting a manager between me and the Controller, and a new analyst that was starting that day. The guy was a complete asshole ex-Army Captain, who demanded to see me and the new hire in his office at 9 am Monday morning where he spent a half hour screaming at us for various things.

I tortured that dude so bad, he went completely bald after 6 months. Then, I stopped torturing him. Another manger noticed, and asked me why I stopped, I simply replied "he has enough rope".
