Default I'm the proud owner of 2 more kittens...

My daughter and I went to lunch today at a "Country food" restaurant near our office. The veggies are delicious, but I shy away from the "Greasy Spoon" meats and fish. She parked her car, we got out, and she noticed two very small kittens gnawing on a bone laying on the ground. One was a filthy black, the other a filthy black and white, probably from the ashes of the building next to the restaurant that burned a few month ago.

The black one was easy to catch, but the black and white one ran under some holly bushes (the ones with thorny leaves). We finally caught it and saw that their eyes were glued shut with an infectious ooze. They were very young (maybe one-month-old) and skinny. We took them to a vet for treatment.

A few hours later the vet called and said that she got their eyes open and fed them; they ate like there was no tomorrow! After the eye medication (a bacterial infection) they slept soundly, and the vet expects a full recovery. I can pick them up Friday.

I'm not after any praise with this post; to me I simply did what any decent person had to do: Save the hungry, diseased kitties. With their eyes glued shut, the would have been easy prey and unable to find food. BTW, I need ideas for names. The restaurant we found them at is called Chimneyville Restaurant (Chimneyville is the name given to Jackson, MS after Sherman's march through it in the Civil War; all that was left was chimneys after the houses were burned to the ground).

BTW, both weighed less than one pound. I picked up cat formula and bottles on the way home today. When they get to my home, I'll give them my usual welcome: "Welcome to the cushy life...where you'll be loved, be safe, and never go hungry."

You gave them a new lease on life! They probably would not have made it on their own.

Good on you Larry

Since they are a pair, why not Abbott and Costello, Laurel and Hardy or Frick and Frack ?

I think you probably already found their names. Something like Soot/Sooty, and Ashes. Good on you for giving them a great home.

Name them "Knitting" and "Grandkids," after two other things that preoccupy elderly women.
