We do joke in the medical field, just like people do in the military and law enforcement, it is a way of coping to come extent for the chit we have to see/do.

Joke about not being able to find a fat woman vag opening, gay guy with a toy up his ass, etc.... yep.. we don't joke about kids with cancer, babes that die, people with mental retardation or Autism etc. No one finds that funny.
