Default My Husky seems to be doing much better- not so much now update

No more major seizures since the first two, a couple of spacy moments which the Vet says are minor seizures. The meds seem to be working.

Here he is in his favorite sleeping spot. I guess he thinks he can't be seen with his head under the table

Awww. I'm so happy to hear that! My husky loves sleeping with her head under the couch haha.

Maybe ate some chocolate?

Per interweb - Chocolate can cause your dog to become very sick including problems with heart rhythm (arrhythmia), problems with the central nervous system, muscle tremors, seizures and coma.

Excellent news, Doug!

Loki has had liquid poops for the past couple of days. Local vet won't see him for a week and a half.

I swear there’s a vet shortage or something. My cat was having an issue with her eye and I wanted to take her in right away. I mean…eye problems are no joke, right? Couldn’t get in for several days. Ended up just taking her to the ER vet because I didn’t want to wait.

I don't know the issue either, but I have no idea what the emergency needs to be to get in NOW. I would hope that seizures would get over the hurdle, but thankfully we have not been there. Hopefully she's on the mend.

So good to hear. I know you said no mushrooms, but be on the lookout.

My pup loves to lay with his head between the end table and the wall. I know it's cooler on the hardwood, but I have no idea about his head

She’s good now. She had to have two weeks of antibiotic ointment for her eye, followed by another two weeks of drops. She was thrilled.

She had a corneal abrasion that got infected and was starting to turn into an ulcer. Definitely not something that could have waited a week for a regular vet visit.

But she’s all healed up now and giving me the side-eye any time I walk near her with anything in my hand. She finds me very suspect after a month of catching her for meds.

It’s true that chocolate is very bad for dogs, specifically cocoa. However, you would be hard pressed to find commercial “chocolate” with actual cocoa in it in any significant quantities. Really premium dark chocolate might contain enough to make them sick but not enough to cause serious problems.

I read that a lot of Hershey products contain no chocolate at all. They had to fight with the FDA to call their stuff chocolate.

Quote:
The new version is called Chocolate Candy which is code for chocolate-flavored confection, or candy that contains chocolate but can’t be called chocolate because it has other stuff in it that’s not permitted by the FDA definitions (like more oil than actual chocolate).

The ingredients: Sugar, vegetable oil (palm, shea, sunflower and/or safflower oil), chocolate, nonfat milk, whey, cocoa butter, milk fat, gum arabic, soy lecithin, artificial colors (red 40, yellow 5, blue 2, blue 1, yellow 6), corn syrup, resinous glaze, salt, carnauba wax, pgpr and vanillin.

Another thing you don't want to let your dog eat is grapes or raisins, they are poisonous to them.

Quote:
Although the toxic substance within grapes and raisins is unknown, these fruits can cause kidney failure. Until more information is known about the toxic substance, it is best to avoid feeding grapes and raisins to dogs.

3 seizures today, 1 at 7am, 2 back to back at 10. He was a fricking mess. He's at the vet for the night, they are adding Phenobarbitol to his meds, he's getting dosed there before he comes home. I hate the idea , it's going to make him sort of sedated but the seizure thing is just horrible.
