Regardless of who sabotaged the line. From what I understand, nothing was being moved through the #2 line and it was only under pressure to prevent leaks and identify issues if something was to occur. But was the NordStream 1 actively being used?

That pipeline was to be used to move gas from Russia to Germany. Now that it is damaged, how long to repair this and who stands to profit from that repair operation? Also, if pipeline 1 was active, who will Germany have to go to for this same resource?

In July 2021, the US urged Ukraine not to criticize a forthcoming agreement with Germany over the pipeline.[85][86] On July 20, Joe Biden and Angela Merkel reached a conclusive deal that the US may trigger sanctions if Russia used Nord Stream as a "political weapon". The deal aims to prevent Poland and Ukraine from being cut off from Russian gas supplies. Ukraine will receive a $50 million loan for green technology until 2024 and Germany will set up a billion-dollar fund to promote Ukraine's transition to green energy to compensate for the loss of the gas transit fees. The contract for transiting Russian gas through Ukraine will be prolonged until 2034 if the Russian government agrees.

Russia had NordStream 1 shut down a few weeks ago. Heard/ read for maintenance or missing/ awaiting parts from Siemmens.

Germany has been adding to their reserves (@91%) over the last few weeks wo Russian product and already have enough for the winter and have been getting their NG from Finland, Norway etc...



PS. the real question should be is "how the hell can the Russian's smoke underwater"

Saw yesterday the £ was = $1.03. Never seen it that low ever. Same for Euro where €= $.96

Europe has been in bed with Russia for the last 30 years. They are now going to pay the price for their stupidity and Green program fetish.

These pipes are only 2 or 3 hundred feet below the surface. Pretty much anybody with access to a small submersible could have done it.

No idea why Russia might do it. They need the cash.

Russian rebels, like the Chechens. They could do it with some tech help.

Ukraine would love to be involved. I'm thinking they did it, or paid for someone else to do it.

US Government. Again, don't see the angle other than helping Ukraine. Joe has got to know that this will drive prices up. Administration has been feverishly trying to mitigate fossil fuel prices.

World Police. Definitely always take advantage of disasters and general mayhem. Could easily afford to do the job. Cause environmentalists to get their panties in a wad. General push against fossil fuels.

Rest of EU. Other than controlling the population, don't see the angle. They'll continue to get gas by ship, but more expensive.

Naturally occurring coincidence. Not a chance with the seismic signatures recorded.

Wouldn't be surprised if we had an LA class sub somewhere in the Baltic Sea.
