Men that can't take care of themselves without a woman, pathetic. I had a neighbor who's wife died and he couldn't even boil water, didn't know how to wash clothes or go grocery shopping. The neighborhood women had to show him how. That to me is a girlyman.

Get real. He was playing stupid. He wanted to violate the neighbors.

When my divorce was final 13 years ago, I heard through my kids that my ex was telling all her friends that "She was going to have a good laugh when I discovered that I didn't know how to wash clothes, load a dishwasher or clean a bathroom." Apparently she was under the misguided impression that she was the only one who knew how to push a start button or squeeze the trigger on a spray bottle. Fast forward to today and she's now living with a friend of hers (basically freeloading) and hasn't held a real job in years.

The license plate on my car reads: LST LAF

I don't do dishes, I don't do laundry, I don't do floors or vacuum or cooking. Wife does all that. It's not that I can't do it, I choose not too.

I have a full time job, and I'm "the guy". I do all the home repairs, painting, landscaping, trash, car and pool maintenance, grilling, BBQ'ing, and all outdoor and handyman stuff.

Seems like a fair trade off and has worked for us for 40 years.

I'm guessing you the stay at home Dad while your wife is out working and bringing home the bacon?

There is nothing wrong with traditional roles in a marriage if that is what works for the couple. But it is important for each partner to be self sufficient in everything, in case something unfortunate happens. It’s the total dependency on someone (on certain tasks) that gets people in trouble when their partner is suddenly gone.

Having said that, Snik’s post was tongue-in-cheek.

Though he did ask me if he could mail me his laundry. Something about fold service??!!?? 🤔

Missing the point i see. I'm saying if your wife died could you do all the things she did in the house. And yes i'am a stay at home dad except the kids are out of the house and i've been retired 12 years.

Domestic crap is mindless work. I could easily do it but it is soooo boring.

I'm a lucky guy, because my wife actually likes doing all the domestic cleaning and cooking stuff. She's an excellent cook, home chef for sure. And, I like to eat!

Since you don't live that far from me could you bring me a sandwich? I'll help with gas.

Can she do handyman work? What happens when you’re gone? It’s not just all about you and what you can do if she’s gone.

You laugh. When I was leaving the TCU Gym not long ago, I saw this parked on campus. And a long line of students with bags of laundry waiting.

As am I, my wife too. It's good for all of us to occasionally remember that we are not irreplaceable.

It's my understanding that the machines on campus are free of charge (I mean, not totally free...the cost is absorbed into their housing fees). The Tide Van is an additional pick up and delivery service that costs around $300/month so that some of the little darlings don't have to subject themselves to loading a washing machine.
