Ah. Sounds like a simple fuse removal or antenna removal to fix that issue.

Disconnect the wire.

People have been doing it for over a decade since the whole "police pursuit shutdown capability" shit came about.

I am sure the government would not want hackers to shut down government vehicles

Therefore, there must be away to disable the ability.
If there is a way around it, it will be made available to the public one way or another (except in California )
One of my good friends son is a service manager at a large dealership.
From what he has said by knowledgeable use of the push buttons, they can disable or adjust a lot of the stuff on a vechicle. Example inside lights and DRLs. seat belt buzzers, all those stupid chimes and other things. Some items are restricted and for special reasons he can modify the computer program. He has said it has to be approved by the car company after some serious paper work and he is sent a one time code to do that work. Its about 18 characters with some buttons pushed twice. From what he has said its extremely secure so rest assured our goverment will have it well hidden.

As for me I used to love getting a new car or truck. Now I dread getting something new as its quite a steep learning curve to operate it efficiently. I hope my present rides outlast me. Again its not the cost its the bullshit/nanny stuff that gets more intense each model year. My wife has a 20 Explorer and she is thinking of getting a new one by the end of the year, she also does not like all the big brother/nanny stuff that is here now with a lot more to come!

Hackers usually get around the "permission" requirement.

I'd bet China could stop every newer car on the road with a few key strokes.

I understand that but the way he explained it its almost impossible to beat the systen they now have. I have had chipped rides before but its going to take a lot to make your own permission. Just passing on what I heard.-

My Audi "communicates". It does not require that communication to function. My 2015 truck "communicates" with GM through OnStar. It doesn't have to in order to function. In the case of the truck, many people have simply unplugged the antenna wire. Boom, no more "remote connection".

I could remove any remote connection to any of my vehicles in about 10 minutes with no downside whatsoever. Will a Tesla function without being connected to Elon?
Teslas work just fine without connectivity. You will lose Supercharger access but you can still charge on chademo, ccs or level 2 without a network connection.

Not worried. I highly doubt that diesel power will go away in my lifetime.

C'mon, you've seen what the EPA has done to diesel in the last 20 years. It won't go away, but it's going to suck.

On my Fords I use Forscan. I've changed a bunch of stuff on my '16 Fusion and I installed navigation on our '16 Explorer when it didn't come with it.
I added stuff like:
TPM 4 wheel readout and specified pressure
5 blinks when I semi-press the turn signal
EQ settings for the stereo etc.

I wonder if tpms readouts can be added to 2011-2016 super duties

Maybe not on the dash in OEM style. But there are TPMS systems that go on the valve stem outside and have a nice wireless connection to a screen that can be mounted on the dash or windshield. I had one for our travel trailer. It also had temperature sensors and the unit was programmable.

Thanks. I have seen those but have been hesitant since that could potentially cause air leaks. It sucks that the 11-16 trucks have tpms and will give a low tire light but will not display the PSI
