Red Lobster: Endless Store Closures

Some are blaming this on their apparently disastrous "Endless Shrimp" promotion, but I suspect there's more at play here, not the least of which is the hyperinflation we've experienced the last 3 1/2 years.

The one across the street from my office has been there since early 1980s and has NEVER been remodeled.
It is nasty, half the seating chair are Sandford and Son quality, the floors appear to have original carpeting.

Their days are numbered, if I want real seafood I go to Long John Silvers!!

Their "Endless Shrimp" promotion was a last ditch effort to get people in their doors. The restaurant business is a tough one in the best of times. Margins are slim. Throw in the inflation we've been experiencing, and people are going to be forced to choose between filling their tank with gasoline or eat out.
You don't double the cost of gas and the cost of everything at the grocery store and not have some fallout.

Look for more restaurants to go under and department stores as well. I believe that Target may be starting to feel the pain because they are pulling a lot of the gay crap from their stores. They wouldn't be doing that of sales were high. Personally, I think it is too little too late, but we shall see.

Employee costs, due to BS wage laws, are not sustainable
Benefits now go to those who work 30 hours, this was never budgeted
Theft is at all-time high, because no one is prosecuted
Amazon can get you almost anything delivered in two days
WM will continue to spend more to be the next Amazon
Inflation now makes many decide they can do without--thanks FJB

Tonight is salmon, two veggies, potatoes and good bread, I think for three people we will be at about $30, same at a restaurant is $100+ with tax and tip.

When I am out and about, I pay attention to empty commercial real estate and it's everywhere. I don't know what the people who own those buildings are going to do when the last store packs up and leaves.

You're right about the shitty service. This new under-30 generation makes it extremely clear that they do not want to be there and that you are annoying them expecting to be served. They have no business being in a service industry.

At LJS you can get two pieces of high-end fish with chips, some slaw for under $13 before tax AND tip, you could feed a family of five with this.

And now, I've stroked McDs off the list of places at which I will eat - after seeing how mega-processed their food is - 4 ingredients in their salt. 14 ingredients in the buns. On and on and on. Exactly correct. The food is beyond garbage. I almost never eat out, and if I do, I get a sub or sandwich with regular bread and real meats/veggies.

Can you imagine being on their wait staff serving the customers the endless negro, erm I mean the endless shrimp promotion probably drew? Very little if any tips, loud obnoxious people demanding to be waited on hand and foot and the very real possibility they’d dine and dash or catch you in the crossfire of some brawl they instigated with another table full of like acting “people “.
