Default Invicta watches

I have a friend who is not well, and he as entrusted me to dispose of his large collection of Invcita watches, about 200 at least, all different. no papers or boxes, just have the watches.

any suggestions on where to dispose of them in one or two batches? not interested in starting an eBay account to sell them off one at a time over time. plus i have no idea of the technical details of each of them - the model, movement, size....

Tough pursuit, as many sell around $100.00, some go for well over a thousand.

This may help:

Well, at least he appears to have taken good care of them.

So what happened yesterday?

Invicta watches can be worth $50 or $5,000 - or anywhere in between. I have no idea how to sell them in one or two batches and not get taken.

with my help, he went thru his collection and put these in the "donate" box. so save space, he just put them loose into this bin. he kept about 40 aside.

The issue with collectibles like this is, somebody either has to take the time to research each watch, or they're some kind of expert already, and then they have to be sold individually to get what they're worth. So DAB either spends hours and hours doing the research and auctioning on Ebay, or he finds someone in that kind of business and makes some kind of deal on them.

There are cottage businesses that will sell stuff on commission. That's probably the way to go. Maybe work out a deal for 50% of the actual proceeds, considering the seller is investing his time and auction costs into the deal?

Also, the box is worth much of the value. I've seen old guns and toys where the box was worth more than what it contained. To discard the packaging and throw them all into a bin is a great way to chop their value and condition in a hurry.

Ebay each individually.

Baby Doll collected tons of Thomas train set junk back when our kids were young. Prepping to downsize, we had no room for them. I tried to sell the set for $250; no takers. I put them up o ebay, separately over two weeks, and made nearly three times that.

No really, there’s a huge market for that brand. They’re normally a larger sized 44mm+ timepieces. This is today’s style, while I prefer no larger than 40mm with the exception of my Leftie GMT II it’s 41mm.

The storage case should have been saved this display destroys your pitch….

The Pelican style cases are nicer than the watches.

The best way would be to take them to a pawn shop and sell the lot. Go through the watches and/or sit down with your friend to figure out a retail value for each one then you can put a price on the lot. Then price the lot to sell so the shop owner can make a profit. Then you just have a little time into the pricing and a one time transaction and your done.

Invicta are fashion watches. They sell both quartz and mechanical movement watches. The movements vary from inexpensive Chinese and Japanese to some Swiss made movements. Many (even some mechanical movements) sell for well under $100 even new.
If researching prices to ask, keep in mind Invicta MSRP prices are grossly inflated. You can usually buy for 50% off or more even directly from Invicta.
Actual sold prices on EBay will give you a better idea of actual worth

All that being said, I own a couple including a Japanese mechanical movement diver watch that has been just about bulletproof in the 15 years I have owned it.

I don’t know what invicta uses but Miyota makes movements that are on par with Swiss designs. Fact.
