Temperature indication and pressure indication instrumentation is notoriously unreliable and the data collected from these instruments has given me much work over the years. When they start to become unreliable they often go full scale and back within a day for sometimes Months on end till someone notices and has the instrument repaired. In business these type of instruments are often graphed over a 24 hour period and checked by an Engineer or such.
I would like to believe this was simply gross incompetence rather than a sinister plot of some type to line someone's pockets.
