Default Model X Plaid Drag Racing

For those who don't know, I no longer own any Vettes (owned 13 previously) and I have gone to the dark side..

Against a Cuda with a Hellcat 840 HP engine + transmission

Against a heavily modified Camaro

Against a Challenger Hellcat Super Stock

Best run so far was 9.82..

I just wanted a 9 second daily driver with no maintenance.. I do miss the sound but if I have to choose between a great sounding 11 second car and a 9 second quiet car, I'll take the quiet one.

I'm happy with my Bolt, but couldn't see paying the Tesla price and having to go through their process for any kind of maintenance.

Anything sub 10 sec is hauling ass.

I have no interest in EVs, but I tip my hat to that e.t.

Plus, we no longer have Doug or Yadkin here to provide content. We need all the help we can get.

I like the video on the Plaid Channel with the '61 Corvette with a small block 327 and a 4 speed spanking a new Plaid in the 1/8 mile. The 'vette pulls the wheels off the ground with every powershift, while the dufus in the AWD appliance sits and watches his taillights fade. Classic.Name: 611.jpg

Neighbor just got a Bolt Redline EUV. He paid $33k and will get $7500 back, so, cost him just over $25k.. He loves it.
Cheapest Tesla is around $38k right now, so, just over $31k after tax credit.

Friend just moved to Idaho. Pays 6 cents per Kwh for electricity. My Uncle in NC pays 8 cents. I pay close to 54 cents here in Central CA. That, coupled with the large distances out here render EV's useless for anything other than running errands locally, and still they are more expensive to run (and inconvenient due to rolling blackouts) than any decent ICE car. Never mind the HUGE carbon footpint these cars have. Hundreds of times more than any of my ICE cars, which are all between 57 and 64 years old and whose impact was gone decades ago.

I wasn't into EV's at all but I was not happy spending $500 to $600 per month on gas with my F150 Supercrew. So, I got a Hyundai Kona Electric as daily driver to see if I can live with an EV. Worked out pretty good but the car became too small for my growing kids and I wasn't happy with CCS charger reliability and charging speed of the Kona. So, I went with a Model Y LR which also allowed me to get rid of my truck as it was able to pull our trailer in case I needed to haul stuff. Did a 3100 mile road trip with the Model Y and that's when I knew that Teslas work very well for road trips. When the Model X Plaid came out, I was hesitant at first but after Nosferatu took me for a drive in his Model S Plaid, I was hooked on the speed and ordered the Model X Plaid (S has too little space for my family).
I'm not in any way anti gas. The reason why I drive the Plaid is because you can't get any gas SUV's with warranty that can run 9's in the 1/4 mile. You can't get ANY gas cars that run that quick for under $500k (new with warranty). Power for money and low running cost.. That was my criteria and no environmental bullshit.

54 cents is insane.. I would go SOLAR immediately with that kind of electricity price. The reason why I still don't have solar is because I pay under 7 cents off peak and off peak applies to most of the day, weekends and holidays.

Solar here is a racket. The only way to win at it is to go totally off grid and have your own batteries and panels and do a closed system. In CA, the power companies buy your energy for peanuts, and when you turn the lights on, charge you the regular rate to sell it back to you. All my neighbors that have it aren't really saving a thing, and now they have these ugly toxic panels on their roofs. I have two friends who are off grid, both on ranches with 10+ acres, and they are 100% self sufficient, but the cost was 80-100k.

I have the advantage that I'm able to install the system myself and I'm allowed to do so here in Florida, so the cost of Solar is a fraction of what I'd pay using installers. I can get a 10kw system for under $10k. I will probably go with a gazebo mounted solar system so that I don't have to take it off every time I change the roof on the house.

We have hydro which keeps power costs low. Although there's a current push to dismantle the damns, utilizing a false narrative of "save the salmon" which will destroy energy along with drive wheat and other crops prices through the roof.

Doesn't have to be quiet...you could always put those speakers where the exhaust pipes would normally be.

Anybody else hate those assholes on Harley's without mufflers who have handlebar stereos turned up loud enough to hear their hip hop music from 5 miles off? **** those guys.
