You don't see those pneumatic lifts anymore.

Looks like a staged promotional picture.
Cool pic nonetheless.

From '79 to '04 all I worked with were the old in-ground hydraulic lifts. (fluid not air)
They were much 'cleaner' than the bulky above ground lifts, but were more of a challenge when 'racking up' some vans and trucks. Particularly Dodge trucks. But very fast and efficient and they never seemed to break down.

No oil or grease on the floor, fake. Every car leaked new or used.

At least 25 years ago a workmate took his 10 years old Chevy pickup to the dealer. He got a call from the dealer that the pick up fell off the lift and they were giving him book value for the pickup and the pickup.

When he brought the pickup to work, I didn't see a mark on the truck. The workmate remarked that the truck ran better after it fell from the lift.

Center-post lifts and drive-on graded alignment racks,,, those were the days!!

Worked at an Amoco my last two years of high school, no one used a floor jack if a lift was open.
I use to stack the oil cans on the back shelf when it slowed at night, those shelves were always looking good, I took pride in doing it.

I never used one, but remember the sound of hissing air. That, and the huge size; I assumed pneumatic.

If hydraulic, thats a lot of fluid.

We have one of those lifts at the farm. Hasn't been used in decades. Ours only has one safety latch that's engaged when it's fully raised. Air actuated hydraulic and I cannot describe how nasty that old oil smells. Because they store the oil underground, they're considered a environmental hazard.
