I don't know how inspection would determine if a wheel was repaired but we did away with annual inspections a few years ago, thankfully.

I have 3 sets of C7Z OE rims--do not ask why.
I have been tempted to powdercoat a set in Torch Red, and would really do it, but would need to have the calipers done in matte black, as it would look like arse with the factory-painted red ones.

Edit: Having said that, I'd consider purchasing a clean used wheel to match your set, maybe even get a pair, and have a spare in case another one cracks, too. Welding on a wheel is going to put it way out of balance, no? Surely those wheels are available at wrecking yards in the area.

I 'think' when I got my black chrome CCW for my Caddy-V in 2005 it was a huge hassle, as John and Skip advised no more black chrome due to the environmentalists, as the black chrome process had a ton of waste, thus the costs was about $250 extra per rim; CCW farmed it out.

I see very few companies offering this today, probably due to the tree hugger idiots.

I remember a few years ago dealing with a powdercoating who advised he had a color / finish that was very close to the dark hue that black chrome projects in lower sunlight. I may look into this, and if so, you doods will gets pics, lots of pics, hopefully I can find a few bikini models who work for booze to assist.

I'm going to have to challenge. I've been clocked many times pounding pints of guinness in 2.7 seconds. Held the record at Irish Kevin's for years until they took it down to give others a chance.

I will. I looked at messages and it's actually $1,400 USD which is about $2k CDN.

When it comes to stuff like this I think: 12 months from now is that money going to matter versus you looking your purchase every day knowing you didn't get exactly what you wanted.

If it helps, there is a paint process which mimics black chrome exactly. It requires special equipment and might be hard to find in your area but should cost considerably less than the upcharge from your manufacturer. Might be worth the research though.
BONUS... if it gets damaged it can be replicated again and again.
