This. If you let politics enter into everything you do, including music, you need to get a life.

I can't stand Pink Floyd. Over- rated, over- played, and they sucked then and even more now.

Here's Roger Waters being anti-war, something he seems to be consistent about, so he's not all wrong:

I don't agree especially with the overplayed. Money yes, but that's it for the most part.
Maybe when the wall cme out there was a lot of airplay for a couple songs.
That's when they lost me though. Ironically that was supposed to be the end of the Syd Barrett saga. Ironic because their best work was largely centered around his story.

How dare you come in here flinging facts around and harshing the Vibe?!?!?!?

I got tired of Waters 40 years after WW2 still crying that his dad was killed. LOTS of people lost family.....

Great Music and I'm a huge Pink Floyd fan but Rodger Waters turned out to be a commie dickhead.

I believe that the reference was Syd’s dad.

Pink Floyds music, for the most part was extraordinary...Politics aside, Floyd sounds even better when you are a little tipsy..

Wish You Were Here is one of the best LP’s ever recorded.

Listen to it in it’s entirety. Alone without distractions. With good stereo headphones. The music at some points appears to go through your head from ear to ear. The guitar, bass, keys, and saxophone work is outstanding. The 12 string acoustic guitar is stellar. The vocals are limited and well placed.

The entire LP flows like one long and seamless tune. It’s quite remarkable.
One does not need to be under influence to appreciate the genius of the album.

If adding intoxicants is an experience you seek, I suggest a mellow Indica or opiated hashish. For the very adventurous, LSD in a not to trippy micro dot, and you will melt into the music. It’s as if you are the guitar or sax or piano and it you.

So I’ve heard.

Listening to it is the key. Use a real record player, with amps and speakers connected. Otherwise you spend allot of money downloading high quality/master quality audio. But then you will need a system to unlock it all and reproduce it.
Wish I never got rid of my Kenwoood system from the 90s.
Hell, my Dad has Teac system from the 60s that still works..
Quality system is so awesome..

Nope, the subject of that song was Waters’ father.

Chilling out to the Dark Side right now.

Much like Brothers in Arms, Wish You Were Here comes pretty damn close to a perfect album.
