In Florida including up here in the panhandle, if there is water be aware that there are critters in or nearby that have an instinct to kill you.
Creek. River. Bay. Bayou. Basin. Ocean. Canal. Pond. Ditch. Lagoon. Inlet. Culvert. Bog. Marsh. It doesn’t matter, they are there. Hell, I wouldn’t trust a deep puddle in the middle of a blacktop parking lot.

We're not talking about February Zeekheim. But from May to October in Texas and the South they have millions of bugs. I lived in Georgia, Louisiana, family in Mississippi and Texas. Those places are the bug capitals of the USA.

I've read that one eats a lot of garlic, the bugs will leave you alone. Not sure if that's true or not.

When I worked for Southern Pacific RR they had an old black dude named T-Boo that did this.
A clove of garlic every day.
The claim was; sweat deterred the mosquitos from staying on the skin.

I've heard that too, but I find using non-scented soap when in the shower helps a lot. The bugs and noseeums tend to be attracted to the scented stuff for some reason.

Or you could do like Snide and not bathe at all. Au natural.

Just because you have no problems with bugs doesn't mean you don't have millions of them.
