I'll display my ignorance here. I ain't skeered.

If the topic is weather or cars or a movie or whatever and someone tosses some unrelated statement in it, it may be funny, it may be stupid, whatever, it will "usually" die organically simply by the next post that IS on topic.

The pissing match and the calling out is just gas being tossed on a fire that was about to die out.

Just my .02. Personally, I don't care what gets posted in my threads UNTIL the pissing match starts. Before that if it derails, it must not have been interesting enough to discuss anyway.
