Default My new motorcycle project

Good pipe which is crucial on these old bikes. They cost and arm and a leg. Great looking bike when restored and perfect size to run around town on. I also have the SL125 version of it.

Nice find. I love those older small bore enduros even if I am too large for those under 250ccs. Subscribed... keep us abreast as it develops!

I go through with mine. Even to the point of removing layers of spray bomb blue and primer to get down to factory original paint.

You obviously have no appreciation for true "vintage" iron. Just where do you think all those Barrett Jackson or Mecum specimens start life???
Pro Tip... they look just like the OPs pic when they get dragged out of storage and exposed to direct sunlight for the first time in decades. Shit that sits begins to look like its namesake pretty quickly... it takes a real man (or woman) to bring a lump of coal back to diamond status.

Doesn't look too bad to me, hopefully the gas tank isn't dented.

Parents bought me a new '71 Honda Z50. I progressed through life with motorcycles usually involved. I don't think I could kick over a XL500 single though. Twins aren't that bad...but, a big single like that with compression is work.

Those dirt/trail bikes and enduros from the 1970’s are so cool. And to think how commonplace they were then.

I used to have an 80's model Yamaha Enduro 250 when I lived in Italy. Parents used to let me take it out to the beach we lived on all the time even though, at my age, it was illegal for me to be riding that bike. Motor size that you could operate was dictated by your age.

I've gone through the motor and pleased to find no major destruction or problems. Super clean inside. The weather is getting too cold to paint anything. So, I may wait to make it pretty in the Spring. I could have it ready in case we got a warm streak and could paint it in a day. So, I may put it all back together for now and just get it running.

A friend just completed this resto on his. The silver/black scheme on these is appealing to me. Silver on any vehicle has always been my preference.
