I live right outside STL but have never been a big baseball fan. People around here go absolutely crazy about the Cards and act like there is something super social about the "Cardinal Way". I'm happy for the Cubs. It's been a long time and they deserve it

I'm happy, had to watch Cubs games alone or with my wife at home to avoid the passive-aggressive negativity I was getting from Cardinals fans, which are in an abundance around here. Royals fans are fine, they are actually rooting for the Cubs. Now I can watch the games with more people without wanting to choke somebody out.

The amazing thing is that this is the first time the Cubs have clinched a post-season series at Wrigley, and only the second time they won back-to-back post-season games at Wrigley.

As a Cardinal fan, I sure hated to see them leave the playoffs, but they didn't come to play and the Cubs sure as heck did. Cubs wanted it more, played better, and played harder.
Not disparaging the Cardinals for the season they had, their results, and their dealing with constant big injuries. But when it is time for the playoffs you find a way to step up, and they didn't. Cubs did. Congrats to the Cubs. I'll be pulling for them. As a resident of St. Louis, they're my team, but my family was born in eastern Illinois and we have lots of Cubs fans in the family. If the Cards had to bow out of the post season, it's at least SOME comfort to know they lost to a team who still has the best record of the playoff teams and quite possibly the WS champions. Yeah, the Cubs are THAT good this year. |
