WTF there that B&W pix of some hood open and looks like a spark plug embedded into the hood insulation?? blown outta 4 cyl engine, I suppose???
looks like the aluminum cyl head gave way for some reason, too much torque on the plug?? |

Or simply left loose. I once bought a John Deere riding mower with a bagging system on it for $50.00 because the owner insisted the engine had blown shortly after he did a homebrew tune up. On inspection I noticed the spark plug had fallen out of the head. I put it back in hand tight, fired that mother up and drove it up on my trailer. It ran for several seasons with no other work required.

Back in '83 I bought a little 1976 Pontiac Astre Sportwagon with auto and ac with about 90k miles for $300 because the owner said the trans was bad and the car wouldn't pull. Cost me $3.15 to fix it Almost three qts. low on ATF. Said he had never had it serviced. Ex-wife drove it for three years and then I traded it for a '69 Galixie 500 XL with a 429 in it. Kept it thirteen years.
