Default And the Z goes boom....

Major failure in the rear end. Differential, gears, ...??? Whatever it is, it's a big deal. Borrowed a competitors rig and was able to tow it home before the end of the race day.

Car still drives, but turning even the smallest bit, while applying gas, and it bucks, clanks, and sounds REALLY bad. You can really feel it in the seat. It's bad.

Can't wait to open up the pumpkin and see what kind of carnage I created.

Oh well, more things to learn how to fix.

You may want to find a place that has a lift... You'll have to drop the rear cradle. This sounds like it is more than a driveway fix

Not the Miata, the Z06. Absolutely is NOT hubs, I've already replaced those. This is uber-mechanical, really feels like the entire rear end is going to come apart when it clunks. The car bucks and even leans pretty substantially.

Sounds like what happened to my truck. Axle gear.

Edit: I don't think it is possible that it is the same since the internals are way different for Corvette.

Jacked up the rear end, took off both tires and did a visual inspection, and nothing can be seen. It only leans when the binding occurs, and just briefly, like the axle bucks. I'll post a video shortly of it. You can hear it big time when it clunks.

That theory was thrown around. What do you think this will cost me? What should I be aware of when I start to tear this down?

Fortunately I can get my parts at cost from Estero Bay.
