Bought a new targa lid
I can NOT believe I drove this car for a year with a cracked lid. This was even a better repair than rebuilding my FX3 shocks.
Everybody knows the C4 is no good with the top removed, but a little lens crack or separation from the frame makes the car flex quite a bit. The road feel is so direct now. It also looks better now too. has better weather stripping than my other top and the trim was installed real well. I got tired of looking for a cheap top and just bit the bullet ($640), but I'm pleased so far. Kind of cash strapped now, but I'm gonna scrape up enough to buy one of those felt headliner deals to keep the sun off of me. |

I'm pretty sure the one that came with the car (cracked when I got it) was because the person who swapped it didn't adjust it properly.
hell, the hardware was still loose, and the moved with the car. it made an awful noise going over bumps. The previous owner was a bit of a mechanical idiot to have not been able to figure that out...or just unwilling to drop the rearview mirror and trim to get at it. Even then, there is a way to do it without removing your visors and all of that if you don't have a helper- it takes all of an hour...some people. |

It's the top from Melrose out of IL. I never heard much bad from them, but you get what you pay for I guess (I hope!).
core charge is $150 so you know I'm going to send the old one back. I was maybe a bit skeptical that the new one wouldn't be painted very well or have cheap weatherstrip, but nope, pretty much can't even tell it isn't new. UPS is gonna probably bend me over for about $50+ to send it back, so by the time you pay shipping both ways, you might get $50 back. |

I need to do something with my targa for my 94, right front corner is cracked pretty good. Leaks when it rains hard.
