Academy Awards have turned from a classy and respectful homage to good work into a forum for rudeness
and self-glorified assholes spewing out their hate for most of their movie-watching audience who don't agree with their
politics and world view!

They forget that we assign them value as to what they do on the screen and not what they are off the screen. If it was
for what they think and say off the screen, most of them would be living out of dumpsters....

If you think about this way, you may understand how some could be upset.

You and another are up for a promotion and big time pay raise. You'd get a vacation home, new car, and lots of other perks from this announcement. They announce the other guy as the winner, but it really should have been you.

You'd probably be upset and pissed too.

But since it was just a movie award, people are quick to dismiss it as just a bunch of blowholes giving each other reacharounds, but in this case the reacharound was for the wrong group.

Mistakes can and do happen. To me, this wasn't a big deal, but I could see why some would be pissed about it. From what I saw in the news about it this morning, it seems both movie teams, the hosts, and PWC handled it well, admitted the mistakes and are working to correct it.

Okay, move on.

I haven't seen either movie, so don't really care either way.

The big problem with your analogy is the fact that these self entitled, play pretend in front of a camera for a living, blowhards is the fact that they make MILLIONS a year. If humanity would start recognizing people with TRUE skill sets that actually make a difference then I would pay attention and care. Well, winning an Oscar can make a movie a lot more popular and when more people see it, those invested in it stand to make a lot of money. On the other hand, even though only one movie won the Oscar, two movies got a lot of publicity. They will probably both profit from what happened.
