GOP to Block all Bills until Tax Cuts are addressed
Just In
First Read - GOP to block all bills until tax cuts are addressed From NBC’s Ken Strickland and Kelly O'Donnell Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell announced this morning that Republicans will block any legislation from coming to the Senate floor until two key economic issues are addressed: funding the government (the “continuing resolution” which must pass to prevent a government shutdown) and the extension of the Bush-era tax cuts. McConnell said that members of his caucus are united in the pledge to use procedural votes to prevent any other non-economic issues -- including the new START treaty, the DREAM Act, or the defense authorization bill that contains a potential repeal of the military’s Don’t Ask Don’t Tell policy – from coming to the floor for debate. "Republicans have pleaded with Democrats to put aside their wish-list - to focus on the things Americans want us to focus on," McConnell said on the Senate floor. "They've ignored us. The voters repudiated their agenda at the polls. They've ignored them." In a letter signed by all 42 members of the GOP caucus, Republicans write that, "with little time left in this Congressional session, legislative scheduling should be focused on these critical priorities.” “While there are other items that might ultimately be worthy of the Senate's attention, we cannot agree to prioritize any matters above the critical issues of funding the government and preventing a job-killing tax hike,” the letter reads. Speaking on the Senate floor this morning, before McConnell made his remarks, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid slammed the GOP tactic as "very cynical, but very obvious and very transparent." "With this letter, they have simply put in writing a political strategy Republicans have pursued this entire Congress," he said. "Namely: obstruct, delay; obstruct delay." There's got to be a method to the madness here ... so far, the only one I can think of is, is *I need Obama to Fail* so America will vote Palin in as Prez ...
... got to feel sorry for Gingrich, Romney, Pawlenty, Hucksta and some of the other 2012 GOP candidates a bit ... |

Awesome that this is happening, let's see we are more than 2 months into the new fiscal year and no signed budget, how much money are we really spending that we do not have. Bush's cuts are current law, not a tax cut I would rathers see another tax cut on top of the current tax law, but it would be good to see atleast the current tax law become permanent. After all this is my money I am talking about not yours or anyone else in America, I like to spend my earned money on what I want not going to someone I do not know. The other bills on the floor are not critical to the running of the American Govt and can be put on hold until the budget and the current tax law are finished and sent to the president for signature. I am Taxed Enough Already. |

We have known this, the GOP cares only for some of America, and we already know who! Obama has been trying be a President for everyone, and there is a segment of America that is scared of that thought.
Who does he thing he is? Eqality is un-American. It's everyone for themselves.. |

Healthcare with issued policies for health problems is another form of welfare, I can decide to not purchase HC and then get cancer call up the good ole insurance company and Obamacare says they have to insure me. Have you checked into the cost of this?
No problem the insurance company should lose money, works to the goal of single payer, Govt run problems all run in the red, look at the ill running post office, need anymore examples, look at Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae I am Taxed Enough Already |

I do the Govt, as I would love to see Govt shrink by atleast 25% for the workers, and the same for the handouts to the non seniors. BTW it will be years before I am a senior.
I am Taxed Enough Already and our Govt needs to go on a diet not spending more $$ that we do not have |
