Chevy Recall
Notice arrived in the mail that my passenger side airbag might explode and kill everyone. That must be that good kind of safety Oh well, Homey don't do recalls when it involves a dealer ripping apart my dashboard

I got one for my Dodge truck...the shifter is supposed to be locked, until the brake pedal is depressed. My truck actually HAD that very issue, but I wasn't going to pay to fix it, I would have lived with it, but since it was a recall, I had the dealer fix it.
As to the OP's issue....I'd get that fixed. It will never be a problem unless the vehicle is in an accident, buuuutttt......those Takata airbags actually DID kill and maim people. I would want to avoid that possibility. |

After recently having 5 of my airbags go off in a collision, I am a firm believer in air bags and the amount of force they deploy with. I had the taste of gunpowder for the weekend. Eerie scene seeing the smoke roll out of the dash, glad the windows were down.

Might be interested in taking it to the dealer if they just want to remove it. Should be optional anyways. The truck is 9 years old with 20k miles on it. Only use it for hauling heavy loads and going to the corner store during Winter. Can't recall ever having a passenger inside of it.
Not too worried about it, gotta die from something |

Don't know if it's a recall for exploding metal or not, if not and it's defective the whole system may not work at all if vehicle senses an error.
Plus if you ever do sell it or let someone borrow it... |

Good point. No sense dying in an accident that won't even scratch the paint. Will probably have to remove it myself, no doubt the dealer won't do it.

If you do it yourself, be very careful you do it right or you could set off the bag/s. |

If you unhook the airbag system will more than likely not work at all, they built in a fail safe i guess if any part fails whole system is disabled. Had to fix friends seat belt latch as he didn't know the whole system was disabled when SRS light was on and he doesn't need to eat another steering wheel. |

On my Ford, 2005, they stalked and terrorized me till completed the recall....
I know of another owner of similar car who has still not completed his recall. Ford stated they will contact the state to deny his next years registration if Takata recall not completed |

Well that could certainly save me some money. Happened to notice reading the court dockets around here several years ago that the fines being dished out for no registration and insurance were less than what I was paying to drive legally. Assuming I only get caught every few years of course... If they want to play games, I can play some games.
