You did a great job, really! Even better in person, and that’s it’s in MY kitchen! Like I said before, it will reside on my custom handmade Cherry kitchen island for ever! And as a reminder of your kindness! Thank you so, so much! |

now remember: no refunds, no exchanges, warranty void upon payment of invoice, payment due before work starts, and have a nice day.
enjoy. if it gets too scratched up for your taste, some 220 sandpaper will take care of that quickly. when water no longer beads, apply another coat of finish. wipe on, wipe off. |

Quick question. If one does not have a planer, what it the best way to remove the glue? Definitely heard wiping down while wet is bad, but I'm thinking of making a large knife block with 1" boards and dados. Can I just belt sand it? |

after about 2 hours of drying, the glue has set enough to unclamp and gently handle the piece, it's at this point that i take a cheap chisel and remove as much of the glue as i can. then let it cure overnight and then instead of running thru the planer, sand flat with a belt sander, 60 grit should suffice, so you can cross cut and do another glue up with the end grain showing. |

Looking for a proper wood working bench now. Normally I just use whatever bench is open and semi clean. Max size I'd say 5x10 foot. Anything pre-built that won't bust the budget as I'm just a hobbyist but have some cabinets and other projects to build.
Thanks in advance. |

I’ll get a pic later. Have several that size, all on casters, so easy to move around or join together if more space is needed. |

No pics of mine handy, but I make mine the same except for the casters as I don't move mine. 3/4" plywood, 2x4 frame, 4x4 legs, two shelves underneath, one about 6" off the floor for power tools and one about 6" below the top for things like levels, extension cords, pry bars, etc.

Ok I'll need it to have vises and dogs. Mobility not a real issue as I just slap plywood on sawhorses if need a bigger area.
I notice most are fairly narrow which is a concern. |

a quick tour of my work benches and shop:
main workbench has a vise at one end, with some dog holes most of the length. use the orange plastic dogs that also fit Stanley work mate benches. have 5 total work benches, 4 at this height, one other is taller (long story from long ago, mostly used for storage and 2 bench vises, not shown). work benches are about 1" shorter than the TS, so they could be used for in feed or out feed (before i built the current out feed table and also later got some roller stands for in feed assistance). all 3'x8'. i've found that to be a good size, not too deep that i cannot reach the other side instead of having to walk around all the time. little tray on the end opposite from the vise for a roll of craft/builder paper - very useful for protecting the bench when doing glue ups or staining or finishing. |
