Yup, plenty of opportunity for abuse. I think the good outweighs the bad, especially if the resident POTUS makes it clear .gov employees that abuse the trust will be fired and/or jailed. Then do it and make an example of them.

Being an old, 76, fogey I remember the uproar when J.Edgar and Joe McCarthy were pulling this on Suspected Reds in the late 40,s early 50. In fact Richard Nixon was part of the investigating team. How convenient that they were pulling "dirty deeds" on the POTUS opposition before the last election.

I have looked around and can't find the article, but I do remember reading awhile back about this, and the building in Utah at least 6 months ago, maybe longer.

I really thought it was even posted here in OT

The NSA phone call database is old news, another whistleblower revealed that one in 2006 (and revealed the location of the super-top secret NSA room at AT&T)
