One week ago Sunday at church, I was telling my son (Marquette Alum) that Syracuse (I'm an SU alum) was probably done after their Saturday win against MU. I felt since the big East Tourny Champ. and said to him Louisville was the team to beat, or whomever won the Louisville/Duke later that day would win it all. Still feel that way. Ain't going to watch, as I got no team in the game.
What league is Louisville going to next year?

I believe the Lady Cards are going to bring home the bacon tonight in NOLA. The mayor has a huge party/parade planned later on this week. It's amazing!! I was just a sopomore when U of L won in 1986 and the campus went nuts then, too.

Classes were cancelled the rest of the week and the governor ordrered the Kentucky National Guard in to protect against riots on campus. Go Cards!!

There's no telling. Pitino got voted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame's Class of 2013 on the same day he takes home the national championship. He got a $100,000 bonus from U of L, too.

On top of that, the Lady Cards might win the national tourney tonight. This whole town's about to go NUTS!

This much we can say in 2013-14. Change will be the key word, with a bunch of schools moving from one conference to another. Louisville will be among those, going from the Big East, which the Cardinals won the last two seasons, to the American Athletic Conference for one season before heading to the Atlantic Coast Conference the season after that.

Had Louisville beating Miami: in final game. At least I had the correct team there. Ended up 39-28 overall.

I heard the mayor and governor have conferred with KY National Guard officials about city-wide riot control. It could be they are preparing for just such a contingency.

I remember in '86 when U of L beat Duke, I rode all the way down Broadway to 26th Street giving high-fives to total strangers out of the window of my buddy's clapped-out Chrysler Cordoba. It was one of my first, heady tastes of unity.

I've never understood why residents in certain neighborhoods in our city shoot out the electrical transformers on New Year's Eve, but I'm told it happens.
