No I won't ben keeping the door glass. Due to my size I need all the room I can get for the cage and still be able to drive the car comfortably.
The trim isn't too bad to removed, but you will end up tearing the weather strip in the areas it's held on with adhesive so best to buy new ones if you have to remove. After that there is a metal run channel and the plastic trim part. For this I didn't really take my time and ripped it all off, but when I did my trarga I took lots of care to remove w/o breaking anything. It can be hard to w/o bending or cracking anything. And then there's a very specific procedure for putting it all back together with various adhesives in various areas to ensure no leaks! |

Re-did the doors taking a little more off and the door beams out. Also removed the forward section of rocker in prep for trimming the A-pillars and installing the cage.
Oh... and I effed up on one of them... oh well it's a race car and I can fix it... |

No more dash or HVAC box etc. Spent some time labeling the entire wiring harness and re-taping everything. Anything not being used I wrapped out of the way into another pat of the harness to clean it up. Normally there's a foam wrap on much of it that has a really sticky nasty adhesive... peeled all of that off and wiped it down with goo-gone and a rag. Also cut out the horizontal brackets on the center consold support that used to hold the radio and HVAC module. It'll become one large switch panel.

Damn, she's gutted!
With the new weight reduction does that mean you can up the HP if you choose? |

Works the other way... Less weight = less power to meet the min 8.7 lbs/horse requirement. I'm prepping for the cage which will add around 125lbs to the car. Plus some other equipment etc I have to meet a minimum competition weight of 3118lbs with me in the car.

Fabbed up some panels for the holes in the firewall. Sealed with RTV and riveted in place.
The real fun of the day was pulling the fuel tanks. Gravity drained the fuel then got to work. Like anything if I had to do it again I could do it in 1/2 the time. There were a few quick-disconnect fittings for the evap system that were a pita to get to and get the right angle on. |

Brian,
Awesome work! I have no problem taking mine apart, its when i put it back together I run into problems. I usually have a few pieces left over which i just call weight reduction! I guess this would be the correct way! Mario |

Finally got the OEM "rollbar" seperated from the roof. Took a cable saw, lots of silicone spray, and a buddy to help hold the roof on the sawhorses. Just have to finish triming the side support ribs off of the roof panel.
I wanted it out in one piece because it makes the perfect guide for the cage builder to do the main hoop |

Cut the top layer of the floor out and gained 5/8" of headroom vs. the standard hardware that came with my Hardbar seat rail kit. The kit was designed to use with a stock floor and with the OEM carpet still in place. Car's ready to head in for the cage!

Damn! It's like a real live race car, nice work.
Will you be putting anything back in once the cage is installed or is that how it's going to roll? |

Fire system, cool-shirt system, and the passenger seat... oh and the center console support will have a new switch panel to control it all... that's it. No dash pad going back in. Will paint the cage, door shells, roof underside, trans tunnel, and "wall" behind the seats white.

Fabbed up a bracket to hold the cool shirt cooler. Just need to get a strap for the cooler etc. Will worry about that when it comes back from the cage install.

Woohoo! Just received some pictures of the progress from Carlos @ Autodynamix. It's exactly what I envisioned for the roomiest C5 cage ever
