Default It finally begins............

Last month........
414 cid tear down
Chainfall came in handy for the hood removal

Had a couple hours yesterday, coils, covers @ alt gone too

knew the intake was cracked in the back......

Intake runner has been worked a lot

The intake was rubbing on the firewall and poor welding/fab of the aluminum made the crack..........
I found the crack after we could not tune the idle worth a shiattttttttttte. Tape worked fine
No gas on this car that I know of.
bad valve cover gasket = leak!

Depends on how much $$$ to fix the short block.
Since its tuned for it, most likely I will repair & reinstall to keep $$$ down

What ever happened here? Did you just freshen up and get a new intake or did you get crazy with it or what? Whatever you did, I know I will be jealous so I don't know why I am even asking.. I just got rid of my stock manifolds and pup cats on my '01 The truth will set you free! That kinda hurt to share in a thread about a big cube motor..

Some more done...........time to yank it next!

Old tools come in handy

I used this old "S" wrench to break free the bolt it is on...........couldn't get anything else on it with the stuff in the way. I wanted to leave the tunnel plate on to hold up the torque tub & rear once I pull the motor

If you haven't see the clutch fluid coupler apart.....

I got a great deal on this Friday on the way home from work from harbor Freight........$16.95 out the door!

The biggest thing for one person, is this tool and to have the torque tube jacked up to allow the engine to be above the front cradle allowing you to easily twist it out. Ileft the tunnel plate in to support the to tube, plenty strong for the job.

My 3 ton chain fall with chain bag(stylish eh?) was great!

This is how much the lower cradle has to be dropped to clear the oil pan/steering

Here is where the 2 x 4 & jack go on the tube:

Just about out!

OUT!!!

Clutch dust!

And my tire dolly does fine to push it around till I get it on the engine stand, thats next!

And the problem...........

Of course the crank hitting the piston skirts didn't help......

Pistons don't look good either..........no wonder it burned oil!

Looks to me like original start up oil starvation..............no priming!
