My best friend and I (he has a '75 Vette) bet whomever bought an EFI system first the other would have to come help with install. Well I won:

Put one on my 79 L82, opted for the OEM manifold and tank kits. Love it.

Pump in tank is the best way to go.

The hardest part of installing EFI is the plumbing. Pre-filter to pump to steel line to micron filter to throttle body to pressure reducing fitting to return line to tank. The hose and fittings are expensive.

Some systems use electronics to keep the correct pressure without a return line, but I've never done one of those.

Yes, in-tank fuel pump module. This makes is easy and the fuel pressure regulator and return are at the pump so no return line needed. I'll put a fuel pulse damper up at the EFI. Will probably use my existing hard line up the the engine. Just getting all my parts in then start the install.
Might bend your ear with some questions.
