Ruger LCR.38 carried in a Desantis pocket holster. If I leave the house this gun is just picked up from its easily accessible hidden spot and goes with me. Note this is for local, casual, no problem expected type of days.

Going into the city or other places and or trouble expected that .38 is replaced by a XDs.45 inside my waist band.

Plus,that carrying a gun in the middle of the back is just plain stupid. You fall or get knocked down and that gun is going to impact very heavily on your spine.

My state is open carry, no permit needed. Don't see them often, but when I do, I just shake my head and think if you get in a situation where the bad guy is brandishing, you're the first one he's going to shoot, unless you're faster. And it's been my experience the open carry folks are just hot dogs with the "look at me, look at me, I have a gun."

I've learned to distance myself from those.....Texas fellers excluded.

I thought this was a car forum myself some years ago, half the folks here don't have Corvettes anymore. As you can see, most of the threads now are off topic, with a lot of current events and politics.

But that's OK, there is a need for folks to vent, have a word, poke fun at just about everything and anyone. It does make for some interesting reading at times. Very diverse group here mostly with a conservative bent.

No one takes themselves too serious here, mostly having some fun.

Just for the record my wife, (a female of course as I'm not gay) has a NYS unrestricted carry permit and she does carry often. She now is in 3 gun groups and shoots about 4 times a week Gals with guns, Armed females, Gun toting woman and best bet can out shoot most guys! Course she had a good teacher! (She will not be a victim!)

She does ride with me often in my Vette as this is still a car forum!

Hickok45 just did a review on the Taurus PT92, which is pretty much exactly a Beretta 92, that I found interesting. You could watch it if your internet didn't suck so badly.

Basically Taurus bought Beretta's manufacturing plant in Brazil back 30 years ago or so and have been making the same gun, with minor changes, since. He said that Taurus has a well-deserved reputation for spotty quality but this is a "good Taurus" and that he definitely likes the frame-mounted safety/decocker which is very 1911-ish versus the slide-mounted safety on the Beretta 92. I've never shot either of these, but they are supposedly reliable as all get-out. They make a black version that I would definitely choose over that shiny silver thing.

I live in New Joisey, so I carry a wallet, keys, cellphone, etc. I do carry a substantial easy-to-deploy pocket knife though.

The day (if ever) NJ makes it easy for the average citizen to carry a handgun, I will be shopping for one, if not sooner.

I've never been a "gun person", but I've been thinking lately of taking some lessons at a local shop/range with the goal of owning a gun, regardless of my freedom to carry.
