Funny thread, my son and his fiance' are supposed to drive east in her econo box....apparently she has never seen much of the USA, he is age 28 now, dunno about her, but they starting from Nevada City Ca. up near the Nevada border....

MY suggested route is just about what is shown on the map above....

Down I 5 then head west to Vegas, GC, Meteor crater, Painted Desert, Pet Forest, then to hit the CAVES.....and then through Dallas and visit my oldest friend, we met about '60 or so....talk about an UBER GEEK, that's him....down to N/O ...and the boring trip to Jax, the other end of I 10....maybe stop to see Mobile/battleship....and try to see the Blue Angles setting on the tarmac....
they hit here, they going down to see St. Augustine, and St. George st....and the fort.....as they go north, hit Williamsburg, Va......they know about DC and shit, surely, being as Tom grew up there....

I can't think of anything up north except Niagara Falls, that is worth seeing....

Hopefully they do this in October and catch the trees in full display on the Parkway and Skyline Drive through Carolina/Va......being as she is a Ca. native I ASSUME she has seen plenty of the mountains in the NW regions....

O really?? wonder if you families knew each other, they just moved into a nice house up there.....SO glad for them, don't have to listen to the sound of gunfire, they met in Oakland......her last name is Hein.....any family name ring a bell to that???

It's grown up a lot in the past 20 years. Grass Valley and Nevada City or basically joined now. I am betting around 50k people between the two towns now.

Name doesn't ring a bell but I also graduated high school there back in 87.

There's not as many sights on the east coast. Sure you've got the Appalachian trail, with sky line drive (NOT RV friendly), and maybe some pretty sights in Maine...but I sure as hell wouldn't want to drive through DC & New York with an RV. Not to mention I grew up on the east coast. The National Glaciers, Alaska, Grand Canyon, all the mountains, ect are all out west.

my retirement plan is do buy and RV and cruise the country. go where ever the wind blows....and the snow doesn't blow.

pop a squat someplace for a while...until i get bored or sick of the neighbors....and then pull up and move on to the next spot.
